Today is Sri Krishna Janmastami, the birthday celebration of Lord Krishna.
In my religion, the Vaishnav branch of Hinduism, we believe that Lord Krishna is the Supreme Lord. (Yes, we're actually monotheists, it's just a complicated vision of how that works.) Besides having all the omnipotence and glory that is usually associated with most people's concept of God, He is also a lovable, beautiful boy with the hue of a dark monsoon rain cloud, who plays the flute and herds cows, and who as a baby likes to steal 'butter' (it's more like very rich whipped cream) from the storehouse of His mother. Srila Rupa Goswami was a 15th/16th century Vaishnav saint who was a great poet and writer. He wrote a hymn to Krishna which is currently my favorite song. Here are the words & translation along with a highly 'produced' audio version, and here is a more raw, rocking version.
May you have a wonderful day and may you get His blessings.
